Apple Red Fruit Compote Organic

Which red fruits are in this compote?

The Kazidomi recipe pairs apple purée at 80% with blackcurrant at 10%, redcurrant at 5% and morello cherry at 5%. Those three fruits are what give the deep colour and the tart edge. The apples come from France, the red fruits from Europe, and it is made in France.

Apple and red fruit or plain apple — which should I choose?

The plain version from Kazidomi holds only apple purée, mild and neutral, cut out for cooking. The red fruit version brings acidity and a purple tone from the blackcurrant, redcurrant and morello cherry. The first is an all-purpose base, the second stands up as a dessert in its own right.

Is there any sugar added to it?

No. This kazidomi.mompote is made from fruit purées alone: the sugars present are those of the apple, the blackcurrant, the redcurrant and the morello cherry. No syrup and no sweetener goes into the recipe, which is why it tastes distinctly sharper than a conventional sweetened compote.

How long does the red fruit version last once opened?

Five days in the fridge, with the lid firmly closed. Before opening, the 915 g Kazidomi jar goes somewhere cool and dry, out of the light. A fruit purée left open too long ferments: an alcoholic smell or small bubbles at the surface mean it should be thrown out.

What can I do with it besides eating it plain?

As a filling for pancakes, waffles or a pastry case, stirred into fromage blanc, skyr or a morning porridge. The Kazidomi apple and red fruit compote also coats a rolled sponge. The 915 g jar covers several servings, which suits families and desserts made in quantity.
