What is in this hazelnut and cocoa snack?

Dates at 50.5%, almonds, hazelnuts at 12.9%, raisins, cocoa powder at 5%, cocoa paste at 2%, date syrup and a pinch of salt. Everything in it comes from organic farming. Kazidomi makes the snack in Belgium and packs it as a single 36 g piece.

Is there any added sugar?

None is added: the sweetness comes from the dates, the raisins and the date syrup already in the recipe. Cocoa powder and cocoa paste bring the bitterness that balances them out. The soft centre of the Kazidomi snack is date paste, not a filling made with sugar or fat.

Hazelnut and cocoa or almond and coconut: which one?

The hazelnut and cocoa snack is the chocolatey one, built on cocoa powder, cocoa paste, hazelnuts and raisins. The Kazidomi almond and coconut energy balls lean on coconut and sesame instead, with a larger share of dates and a milder, less bitter finish. Both are date-based and made in Belgium.

Does it contain allergens?

Yes: almonds and hazelnuts, two tree nuts. The Kazidomi label also flags possible traces of sesame, peanuts and other tree nuts, plus the occasional fragment of stone, since the dates are pitted mechanically. The recipe holds no dairy ingredient and no cereal at all.

How long does it keep once opened?

Two days at most at room temperature, somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. Before opening, the Kazidomi wrapper keeps in exactly the same conditions. The soft centre comes from date paste, which dries out quickly once the pack has been started and loses its texture.
